This tactic is basically doing whatever is required to survive. In the end this location made it easier for Castro to find out about exiles being trained in guerrilla warfare. This would give the US the ability to train these exiles in secrecy and not have to keep them housed in the US. In order to train these exiles Eisenhower set up a base in Guatemala. We did non anticipate much resistance nor the Cubans knowing that we supported this attack at all. The original thought process was based around the idea that we would have much more support than opposition making this mission quick and easy. In a sense we tried to create a quick civil war within Cuba. Eisenhower decided to put this mission in the hands of the CIA and they collectively agreed that it would be best to use Cuban exiles to fight against the Cuban regime that they hated. This project originated in the Eisenhower Administration. This mission ended up failing in more ways than one. The only logical way to go about doing this was by an attack on Cuban soil to either kill or overpower Castro’s regime. Once we made the mistake of given the wrong person power, we knew we had to take it back. Did you ever wish that you could secretly round up an army to go attack your worst enemy on their own land with their own people? Well the US did just that! As previously explained in my prior posts, the United State and Cuba have had bad blood ever since we helped Castro gain power.
